1. Sometimes you’ve gotta do something outside of normal.
This began four years ago when a boy was born. He had no blemish on his perfect body, shone with an aura of destiny, and was not the Messiah. He was a little underweight. And he was my son. I knew I wanted to chart a journey for my son with remarkable landmarks that would direct a rad course for his life. A rad course, but a God one. Rad in God.
So I decided to read the entire Bible to him before he turned 1. And I recorded the whole experience, so he’d have an audio Bible narrated by his father with personal notes for him later in life. He slept through parts of Deuteronomy.
2. WAY outside normal.
Fast forward two children, two and a half sleepless years, and two blogs. Each of my children having a personal audio Bible narrated by their father wasn’t rad enough. I decided to blog my commentary to them. For each. The goal, should God bless this meagerly fanatical effort, is for each child to have their own set of devotionals on the whole Bible. Written to them.
3. Wat?
Whatever. So you can read them, too. Or not read. Or heckle. Or share them with people you hate to give them more reason to hate you. This is an alternate benefit of being a Christian who spreads God’s love and cheer. People who hate God’s love and cheer will hate you. My brother says whenever you do something really cool, everyone will love you. When you do something truly amazing, half the people will love you and half the people will hate you. Just make sure you pick the right half.
So hopefully you love this. Or hate it.
I’ve aligned my half with a book inspired by the Holy Spirit, written to men and women who long for more of God. The girl version, to my daughter, is on Princess Bible. They’re both really very good. If you like living outside of normal. Way outside, I suppose.
